iHero by Bernice
Fandom: DC Comics
Pairing: Lex Luthor/Clark Kent
Length: over 81 000 words
Author on LJ:
iibnf
Author Website: iiBNF Press
Why this must be read:
If you have a couple of days to waste on a single story, let this be this story. It's huge. No, it's epic and I recommend it without reservations.
Essentially, Lex Luthor almost dies. Again. This time, he's awfully close to some kryptonite, and it mutates him, giving him superpowers. Lex then does the only logical thing and becomes a superhero (no, really).
The story is charming, funny, cheerful, and remarkably sweet while providing a very well thought out transformation of Lex's character, and still manages to make him distinctively Lex. Hope and Mercy are delightful, Superman is smarter than he looks, and the story is funny (I've said so before, but it bears repeating). It's all tied together with a musical theme that means nothing to me, but its probably really neat for anyone who knows about music.
iHero is also available as a podfic read by
twilight_angel . I haven't listened to it, but it exists. Someone read over 81 000 words out loud, of their own free will, then edited it for what I assume was days. That's how amazing it is.

I can't edit it. :(
And I don't listen to pod fic, but I figure someone must. Glad to see I was right.
