Fandom Overview: Riptide
Riptide ran on NBC for 3 seasons and 56 episodes, beginning in 1984. All are now available on DVD for the discerning viewer.

It had a big pink helicopter, the Screaming Mimi:

a little orange robot, the Roboz; and a cute geek named Murray Bozinsky:

And Nick Ryder and Cody Allen.

Nick and Cody are Vietnam vets, and together with computer-expert Murray they run the Riptide Detective Agency off Cody's boat (the Riptide) in Southern California.
Nick Ryder is a helicopter pilot, and is still in the National Guard. Nick is a blue collar kind of guy, honest and loyal to a fault. He sees things very black and white, and he'd die for the people he loves. Nick is of Italian descent, impulsive and emotional, and he's comfortable expressing his emotions.
Cody Allen is of 'good' family. He was in college when his girlfriend broke his heart, at which point he dropped out of school, joined the army and went to Vietnam. Cody likes to project that he doesn't need anybody. He is less comfortable expressing emotion than Nick, and at times practices avoidance maneuvers when confronted with it.
Murray Bozinsky is a computer genius, a hacker, famous for inventing computer games and so naive he was conned out of a million dollars before the show started. He's a little bumbling and geeky and played for laughs, but he has a huge heart and will do anything for anybody. Murray nearly always gets the girl.
Main recurring characters include:
Ted Quinlan, the police lieutenant - in the early seasons, the boys are always in trouble with him
Mama Jo, who's the captain of the Barefoot Contessa, a charter-boat with an all-babe, all-bikini crew
There's usually a Babe of the Week, and she usually ends up with Murray.
There's a lot of slash in this show. I'll be upfront and say, straight up, I ship Nick/Cody (Shipper's Manifesto this way) so I'm biased that way.
Canon support for Nick/Cody includes the fact they share a room. Nick's incredibly overprotective of Cody, and they always act like an old married couple.
They touch ALL THE TIME.

And this is how they watch baseball:

Additionally, there's fandom support for Nick/Cody/Murray, and there's some Nick/Murray, some Cody/Murray and also Murray/Quinlan.
The Shipper's Manifesto for Nick/Cody/Murray can be found here.

Dear heavens- was it really called that? Now I am having unfortunate visions of Ina Garten (http://www.barefootcontessa.com/) in a bikini. I wonder if she was a fan? ;D
