So I know I've already recced one fic centering on Bonnie's state of mind and relationships post Gram's death, but I really love them both. (I also suggest checking out this author's other work - I played around with the idea of reccing one of her others, but kept on coming back to this.)

Aside from the author's grasp on Bonnie's character, this fic's strength lies in its beautiful language.

At first, Elena calls every day. Bonnie can tell even before her phone goes off, not because of her powers but because Bonnie knows Elena, a sixth sense grown out of a childhood constantly spent together. That should be a comfort, she tells herself, something familiar, except that’s not hers anymore either – not since Stefan snatched it for himself with his stories of cruel vampire girls and kindly witches.
