Why this must be read:
This is a creepy, disturbing masterpiece. One of the hardest things for those of us who are die-hard MSR shippers is that there is something fundamentally unhealthy about much of their reliance on each other; the world has shaped them into a very codependent pair, and each's ability to proceed without the other becomes, over time, more and more limited. This looks at what happens when the inevitable happens. It's not a spoiler to say this begins with Mulder's (off-camera) death. A worthwhile, if dark and sad, read.
