Why this must be read:

I've been watching this fic update on the kinkmeme, and it has just finished to thunderous applause. It's one of those stories that's based on an optimistic view of Dan and Rorschach's partnership in the 60s, where they've always got each other's backs and Dan calls Rorschach "buddy" a lot and they patch each other up after fights, and it's all very dashing and homoerotic.

The trouble in paradise in this case is that Dan starts noticing weird little things about Rorschach that get him thinking there might be an impostor under the mask. And since Rorschach is so cryptic normally, and Dan has never seen his face, it's possible! Dan's subsequent fretting and Rorschach's persistently weird behaviour make for some great tension, and the resolution when Dan finally does find the real Rorschach is sweet, sexy, funny, and a joy to read.

Ah, okay - the second link goes to a comment page on the kinkmeme post, of which the story starts part way down the comments. I found it eventually. I was expecting an actual story post.
