Why this must be read:
In this fic's universe, Laurie left Jon before the Keene Act was passed, and hooked up with Dan. Rorschach disapproves, of course, but he's bound by loyalty to Dan to watch her back. So when she's injured on patrol with only Rorschach around, he has to help her, and that's where the story starts.
I loved this one first for its understated narration of the hurt/comfort scenario, and then for its attention to the characters' various weird issues: their violence, their kinks, their immaturity and irresponsibility. The story's all about the romance of screwed up people rescuing each other.
Triage
If you like it, you have to also check out its WIP sequel Teshuva, which has got a huge range of moods from wistful to ridiculous, and plenty more screwed up romance too.
