Why this must be read: - What would happen if Jim and Blair keep dying and being reborn, but never at quite the same time?
With each life, both are aware of something missing in their lives, though only Blair actually remembers details of any of their past lives. There's a lot of pathos in this story, but it's told in an unsentimental, matter of fact way.

As I just told Elaine, I've been looking for this story for years. Kept looking at "Clinging to the Wheel" by Dasha, which has a similar theme, but wasn't what my memory insisted I'd seen. I was beginning to think I'd imagined it.
So, thanks for pointing the way. I've just had a sniffly good time, re-reading it.
