Why this must be read: Because it's Shawn and Lassie on a road trip. It's case fic at a UFO festival. It's reluctant male bonding that turns into something more. And while there's plenty of angst, it'll still leave you smiling at the end.

It starts as an attempt to catch a suspect goes wrong, leaving Shawn injured, the suspect dead by Shawn's hand, and Lassiter on enforced leave from the police department. Shaken by what's happened, Shawn decides he needs to get away from Santa Barbara for a while. With a little pressure, he gets Lassiter to accompany him - and our boys hit the road for Roswell, New Mexico.

I totally love that the Psych van is being driven this month. I hadn't read the story you linked to the other day, and I really thought that I'd read just about every Shawn/Lassie story out there. (And most of the Shawn/Gus, for good measure.)
