The Good Guys series by JadeBear (PG-13)

Why this must be read: Because sometimes you just want something dark, and angsty, and. . .something else.
It starts out with Jim and Blair on a stakeout, with Blair contemplating their partnership and what has led up to it. Saying anything more would spoil it, so I’ll leave it there. If you enjoy “The Good Guys”, move on to the next parts.
“The Good Brother” follows immediately after “The Good Guys”. It gives some in-depth Jim backstory that helps us understand his life and motivations. “The Good Path” continues the story as Jim and Blair fulfill a commitment to a friend. Enjoy.

I love the way JadeBear handles emotions, especially angst, and the characters really work for me here. And I don't want to spoil it either, so I'll shut up now, heh...

It's been a hard few months and beautiful comments like these warm me in a way I can't explain.

I'm so sorry you've been having a tough time, JB. Sending you love and hugs and wishes for better times.
(And eh, wishes for the return of Larry are sneaking in there, too -- Although you should NOT feel bad you haven't been able to write more on this at this point; you can only do what you can do, and I know that sometimes that just means getting through the day as best you can.)
lots of love,
(and I was thinking of Scottish castles the other day, and that makes me think both of you and of the Medieval Octopus :-))
