Why this must be read:

This is a post Sweet Revenge story. I happen to love post SR stories, so I read a lot of them.

In this story, the boys go to Tahoe for a vacation but Hutch can't ever relax. Ever. It is his mission in life to watch Starsky constantly, because he sees assassins around every corner. Not only does se see somebody out for Starsky around ever corner, he sees other things, weird things that might or might not be there.

Flamingo really gives me a great story here, complete with an obsessive Hutch and a Starsky who's had just about enough of the smothering.

Hutch sat ramrod straight in the Torino's passenger seat, his hands balled into tense fists resting on his knees--if anything about Hutch could be referred to as "resting." Behind his sunglasses, Starsky could see Hutch's eyes scoping out everything, but not the way the average tourist would. The average tourist--a term Starsky would have been happy to apply to himself today--would be noticing the rustic style of the vacation cabins, the attractive landscaping of evergreen shrubs and trees that merged naturally with the surrounding forest, the woodsy decor of the resort buildings, the welcoming signs ushering new visitors to the lobby for check-in, and the listings of interesting activities.

Starsky suspected Hutch was seeing none of that. Hutch really hadn't had the ability to see things like the beauty of their surroundings for over a year now. Whenever Hutch examined their latest locale, as he was doing now, it was for one reason only.

He was looking for trouble.
