Unsleeping by Martha (NC-17)

Fandom: THE SENTINEL
Pairing: Gen
Length: ~99.500
Author on LJ: [livejournal.com profile] saffronhouse
Author Website: Good Morning, Sunshine
Why this must be read:

If you like a good, long, plotty horror story, this is for you. A tale of modern necromancy, a creepy story, which plays very nicely with Blair's shamanism, one that will give you more than one shiver and will keep you awake all night long.
And a good advice: don't begin to read it if you can't obliterate yourself from the world for a quite respectable amount of hours. Because this is long, and compelling, and thrilling, and you wouldn't want to stop once you are reading. And yes, that's why this rec comes on Friday night *g*
For those of you who don't know Martha's writing, have a taste here:

The night and the place seethed and roiled, breaking across Jim's open senses. Darkness poured over him like an infestation, like those fat white spiders he had remembered, as though he'd stuck his fist into their nest instead of crushing them with a log. Soft spider legs scuttled endlessly. A thousand of them, a million, dragging their bloated, yielding bodies behind them. For a long instant Jim was held all but motionless, trembling under the onslaught, but then he heard Blair's voice. Blair was weeping, saying, "Please," and "No." He was begging for mercy, for help, and nothing else mattered to Jim, not all the hosts of hell. He held his weapon in both hands and forced himself to walk up that garden path, through the horror which enveloped him. He called to the woman who stood before Blair, identifying himself, telling her to step away. She snarled something in return, as defiant as Ross had been, and none of the others even turned their heads to see Jim.

Oh, yes, I know! amazing... so go and have a good scare :D Unsleeping. And don't forget to let's Martha know how much you enjoyed this.

For those of you who don't know Sara's writing, have a taste here:

Don't you mean Martha?

I thought I was confused at first until I clicked on the link and then I figured it was just a mistake. A typo, right? "Sara" has nearly the same letters as "Martha".

No problem. Er, I mean, you're welcome. Good rec. It's a shame she doesn't write Sentinel any more (and a shame Beach was never finished, sigh.)

Oh fantastic!! I knew Martha has written Sentinel fics, but I didn't know she'd written Sentinel horror! I'm a HUGE fan of her Stargate horror fics, and can't wait to jump into this one when I've got the time to devote to it. Thank you for reccing this! :D

Quite a few Sentinel horror stories as a matter of fact, or, at the very least, gothic. And have you read her TS/SG1 crossover Lovely? It was the very first crossover I read when I came to the TS fandom. She did a sequel that includes a triple crossover with Angel called Tatters. It's at her slash site but the link to it should be at the top of the Sunshine page.

You know, I believe I have, but if I did, it's been a couple years, probably about '09 when I was playing around in Sentinel fandom mostly. Might be time for a re-read. :)

Might be time for a re-read. :)

The number of stories I re-read is pretty small, but Lovely is one of them. At the time I hadn't seen any SG1, especially not the episode they were referring to. Once I'd seen some eps and got a flavor for O'Neill and the rest of the characters, I liked the story even better.
