martianholiday, so maybe I'm biased. But damn it, this is a beguiling little fic.

The always amazing

margo_kim takes this most peculiar of pairings and whips up a story that is by turns funny, poignant, and more than a tad disturbing. The premise: Annie unexpectedly finds herself escorting home a drunken Litton who manages to be both creepy and pitiful. Margo's Annie is wistful, sharp-eyed and dignified ... and by the end of the story, I wanted to hoist her on my shoulders and carry her around like a conquering hero. She's fab.

And there's even a cameo by my favourite slash pairing: Vince/Geoff ♥

Excerpt from the story:

Litton retched and then swallowed down whatever came up. “We’re okay,” he said before he collapsed on the floor. The rest of the pub, including the stragglers from the RCS, she noted, didn’t rush to help. “Bloody hell! The floor’s got me!” he shouted and fell silent with a happy gurgle.

Annie stared into her cup and weighed her options. She could leave him for someone else to deal with and get called a heartless bitch the next day. She could help Litton home and get called a slag.

Well, he lived close and they called her a slag already. And let’s face it, she wouldn’t be interested in Sam if she didn’t have a soft spot for hopeless men.
