Where to start? First off, I’ll say that everything by flecalicious is worth reading. This is an inventive, risk-taking author. There is perhaps no greater risk than a fic with this line in the second paragraph:

The real reason Sally Donovan hates Sherlock so much? They have a child he never sees.

Stop right there, don’t run away, don’t you trust me? In the hands of a terrific storyteller, this premise goes on to breathe life and intrigue into Sally Donovan. She is, here, a full-blown woman, mistakes, anger, love, life. John learns about Sherlock’s secret and it’s not easy, nor should it be. You begin to see what this fic might be about, but it’s not until the final lines that the revelation is made clear. No spoilers, go see for yourself:

I wholeheartedly agree with this rec. I trust this author to make unusual concepts work, which isn't true for very many people out there. This fic just blew me away.
