Why this must be read:
Author’s summary: McCoy wasn't really writing a treatise about his captain's mental health. But over a few weeks of vacation, he wondered if he should have been.
This pairing just works for me. In fact, it’s one of the very few threesomes that I read, andlikeadeuce executes this relationship beautifully. McCoy, Jim, and Christine spend a lazy shore leave at McCoy’s house in Georgia, where they make a list of the various ways Jim dances with danger on a regular basis. One thing I especially love about this fic is that it starts out light-hearted, becomes significantly more introspective, but ends on an optimistic note. This is the kind of fic that provides a portion of angst without leaving you wanting to cry in a dark corner.
