Why this must be read:

Nyssa is famous (or maybe I should say infamous *g*) for the hawt sexytimes, but she’s not a one-trick pony, as this poignant story will attest to. Oh, the boys are still at their bantering best, but with a softer, more somber undertone, as befits the circumstances: visiting the Vietnam Veterans Memorial in Washington, D.C. A very sweet, touching story, with nary a nookie in sight.

Starsky pointed at the wall. "February 21, 1968. That's the day I got out." He peered at the names under the date, his lips moving silently, before he stepped back. "Nobody I knew."

Hutch stroked Starsky's neck.

A minute later, Starsky's breath caught in his throat. "Hutch."

Hutch's eyes followed his partner's pointing finger to June 5, 1968.

Ack! What was he pointing to? Inquiring minds want to know!

Thanks so much for the rec! I really enjoyed writing this one, and finding that there really is a Kenneth Hutchinson on the wall creeped me out. So I figured Starsky would be even more creeped out. :-)

My pleasure. Your stories are all well written and I had a hard time picking one to highlight, but this one has always stuck in my head, as I've been to the memorial and was very moved by it (even though I didn't make the same discovery as the boys *g*). And being that today is Independence Day [US], it seemed even more fitting, a reminder that freedom isn't free. Thanks for your stories, the ones you've already written and those to come. :)
