Why this must be read:
I have to say, I’m not usually one for AU stories. But if there truly is an exception for every rule, then this fic, my friends, is it. The exceptional exception.
I’m not exactly sure why this is so. Perhaps it is because I agree with KAM, who once said: Their love stretches beyond human comprehension, beyond the realistic realm. They are more than just two men who love each other. They are symbols of Love, Honor, Loyalty, Bravery, and the Union of Souls. Or perhaps because the very idea of using the Greco-Roman pantheon in an S&H fic gives it a "myth and legend" aura that I find irresistibly charming.
Then again, maybe it’s just because it’s a damn fine read.
See, you and I already know that our boys will do anything for each other, even go through Hell if necessary, right? Well, KAM weaves an epic tale in which they do just that. A simply wonderful story by a much-loved and very talented writer.
Discordia stalked the streets of Bay City and fumed. Damn Eros to Hades's worst torture chamber, if he could ever be damned. Since his syrupy reunion with Psyche and the girl's promotion to immortality, the son of Aphrodite was determined to put together every true heart and soul in the universe. He'd made it his cause in the last few millennia. Next thing, there would be an end to warfare, a drastic drop in crime, and hatred would disappear, leaving Discordia where? Relegated to the has-been section of Mount Olympus, that was where.
Well, she wasn't having any of that! Time to put Eros in his place. He'd managed to save Psyche when she broke the rules, but David Starsky wasn't in love with an immortal. One little shove in the wrong direction, and Eros would have enough egg on his face to make omelets for the entire Olympian breakfast crowd. Aphrodite had already been warned by the High Throne to quit pulling her son's chestnuts out of the fire when he went off on one of his half-cocked schemes. The trick would be convincing ethical cop and all-around good guy Starsky to kiss off the terms of his agreement. She had to go through someone who couldn't be accused of having an ulterior motive. Someone above reproach. Discordia smiled, visited by a foolproof idea.
Now how can you resist that? :)
Cupid and Psyche Revisited
A little side-note: Some of KAM's stories that were lost when Geosites went away are being re-posted to the new Starsky and Hutch Archive, much to the delight of her readers. (Cupid and Psyche Revisited is one of them, and I can't tell you how happy I am that it was available for me to rec this month! *g*) So keep an eye on the Archive for more good stuff, from KAM and many other writers.

Heh, I hear you about the housework. :) As for length, it's ~41K words. In comparison, I think GSYE is ~71K words.
