Why this must be read: Joanna McCoy may or may not exist in the AOS universe. But if she does, the author gives us a wonderful look at how she might see and live her life.

In this story, Joanna doesn't met Len McCoy till she is seven years old and knows a different man as her father. I love how the author traces Joanna's relationship with McCoy, her mother, stepfather and other members of her eventually acquired family.

Winona is a great character here and I like the little glimpses of David Kirk, Pike and Spock and really enjoy the child's eye view of an unusual wedding and the comfortableness of the story. For something a bit different, check out
