Role Model by Em Dash (PG)

Hello and welcome to this round of Stargate reccing. Please buckle your belt and we'll get underway. :) I've got a variety of recs, mostly gen with some slash and het thrown in for flavor. I've got angsty stuff, dramatic stuff, and hilarious stuff. I've got both Stargate SG-1 and Atlantis in the offering since I enjoy both shows immensely. Also most of my SG-1 recs this time round deal with the character Daniel Jackson this time round. So got a bit for everybody. So hold your "oh s**t" handles and we'll get underway!!

Why this must be read:

Summary: The first shot surprises him only because it hits.

A tag for Season 8 episode "Prototype", this powerful portrayal of the changes wrought on Daniel after seven years fighting for the SGC will ring in your mind long after reading it. In only 230 words, Em Dash explores the situation of Daniel shooting Khalek with only a twitch of a hesitation. After that nanosecond, it's no hesitation whatsoever as Daniel takes down the threat in cold blood. The transition from archeology-Daniel to Action-Jackson (as some in the SG1 fandom call him) is painfully and starkly evident when examined in Em Dash's deft character-exploring hands. Be prepared to think a bit after reading this; you won't be able to help it.

Snippet

They won't talk about the empty echo a gun makes in the 'gate room, or that for the first time Daniel doesn't regret taking a life. They won't talk about the man Daniel's become.
