VID REC: TRON - Da Tron Funk

Fandom: TRON
Vidder: [livejournal.com profile] humansrsuperior
Music: “Da Funk/Daftendirekt” by Daft Punk*
Pairing: refs to canon pairings
Vidder on LJ: [livejournal.com profile] humansrsuperior
Vidder’s website: http://www.neuralcluster.net/
Warnings: Spoilers for entire franchise
Why this vid kicks ass:

This video could be titled “Plus ça change, plus c'est la même chose,” or “The more things change, the more they stay the same.” Built around a thumping track from Daft Punk’s amazing Alive 2007 album, [livejournal.com profile] humansrsuperior uses brisk and witty edits between clips from TRON, the 2009 teaser trailer, Daft Punk concert footage, the “Derezzed” video, and Legacy to demonstrate that the effects and the fight choreography may have evolved, but the TRON ’verse has always been and still is a full-throttle ride.

* Back in 2010 I made an untranscribable noise when I learned that Daft Punk were providing the soundtrack for Legacy. Has there ever been a more perfect film/composer pairing? I mean, who better to score our return to the Electronic World than a duo that, judging from their previous releases and stage shows, are from there? No disrespect to Wendy Carlos and her beautiful blend of choral, symphonic, and electronic elements for the ’82 film, but come on — look at those shiny GQ motherf—ers.

Oh, you are spoiling me with these recs! Thanks so much for this!! :D

And I totes agree on the Daft Punk being peeeeeerfect for making the OST. It's hard to even imagine a TRON 3 without them doing the music! D: (Which I'm not counting on them doing at all, since it's such a massive project.)

I read somewhere that Daft Punk worked really closely with the director and the sound guys so that the music would mesh with the FX and the ambient noises of the Grid.
Yeah, that's why they feel they won't ever perform any of it live, as they feel the music is too married to the images to have one without the other. Which, I get it, but that bums me out a lot, ngl. xD

As for the sequel, it might be doable -- after all, Howard Shore scored the entire LoTR trilogy.
True. It's not that I don't think it's doable, it certainly is, I just don't see them taking it on again, as it's not really their actual profession. I'm sure the one time was awesome and amazing and fun for them, but I'd be surprised if they did it again. (Although a girl can dream... xD)

Any new music from them would be fantastic though.

Oh, don't get me wrong, I WANT THEM to do it. I'm just not holding out hope for it I guess. ;) Here's hoping I get proved wrong!

*raises hand and waves it around* Count me as one of the ones who became a fan thanks to TRON: Legacy. When I started seeing all the hoopla about Daft Punk doing the music, I looked into who they were. So I knew that was them in the End of Line club, but that was about as far as my knowledge went, lol. I didn't look into their music/other albums until after I saw the movie, and completely fell head over heels in love with the OST. So yeah. I might be a late fan, but I'm a passionate one, hee! *Squishes DP*
