Why this must be read:

Another author I could happily rec until the end of time, Fawsley has written a lot of Life on Mars fic over the years, and I've loved every little bit I've read. She's particularly adept at capturing their banter and word usage, but then there are pieces like this one in which there's no dialogue at all and yet the very souls of the characters shine right through it. This one starts out humorous and shifts to a level of intimacy that takes my breath away. It's probably PG-13ish. Also there's Gene's mental image of Sam as a Manchester Terrier, which is easily one of my favorite tender little Gene moments in all of Life on Mars fanfic.
