Why this must be read: This is a series of drabbles about the Year That Never Was. What makes it incredibly clever is that each drabble is written from the point of view of one of the nameless background characters we never hear from in canon – a dishwasher, a laundry officer, a stowaway, etc. Lindenharp manages to create a much more layered and multifaceted image of life on the Valiant than a fic focusing on the canon characters ever could.
