I'm so pleased that I get to be the one to rec this on crack_van! This was a fic that took fandom in general by storm, as although still very much a Merlin fic, its meta content also allowed it to be popular outside of Merlin fandom. It's also in a very real way fic for Starz' Camelot, and at the time it was written futurefic at that :)

The premise is that Arthur is a BNF in the Camelot fandom, and Merlin becomes his beta, but that is such a bald summation of the fic I hardly know where to start. If you've been in any fandom for a length of time you will recognise so many tropes and archetypes in this fic - every page made me laugh my socks off. But the burgeoning relationship between Arthur and Merlin is also tentative and sweet with believable insecurities on both sides. This is meta and wry humour and passion all rolled up in one tasty package - a great big love letter to fandom.

Just wanted to say that this fic was the reason I started watching Starz' Camelot, and it works even if you have never seen Merlin. There is a brilliant podfic of it too.
