I knew I had to have him as soon as I saw him.
It all came back so quickly, and more vividly than I would have expected, given the way we'd parted. Back then, it'd been all melodrama and stormy tears and me driving away in a snit. I'd been self-righteous and patronising, trying to hurt Ray the way he'd hurt me. Yet for all my damaged feelings and bruised pride, I'd fully expected him to come crawling back. He never did--
