Easy by Kat (NC-17)

Pairing: Sydney/Vaughn

Why this must be read: Basically I think everyone should read anything and everything Kat has written. The control of her writing and her dead-on characterizations are a true sight to behold. But "Easy" has always been one of my favorites for the Weiss/Vaughn friendship. Kat does a terrific job showing us how well these two men know each other, and why they're such good friends:
"Tell me something," Vaughn grins, "that girl…the one in the office, the one you brought here, the one you gave drinks to all evening…where's she?"
Weiss gives a theatrical sigh. "She went home with some other guy."
Vaughn frowns again. "Man…"
And like the pro he is Weiss finishes the sentence, "…women."
"Yeah," Vaughn puts his arm around the bigger frame of Weiss, straining as he does so, "fuck 'em."
"Would love to," Weiss nods.
Vaughn hiccups, "Given half a chance."
"Settle for a quarter."
Heh. That's one of the best portrayals of the Weiss/Vaughn friend dynamic that I've seen to date.
And then there's the Sydney/Vaughn. A screwed up Sydney who manages to screw up Vaughn. Kat paints a beautiful disaster that'll have you crying, then ends it all with such hope that you'll start tearing up again. :)
