Stuck by asymphototropic (NC-17)

Hello, I'm Kat and this month I get to drive the Capri Van for The Professionals. We'll have a wide variety of stories to read from some of my favourite authors. Enjoy and remember to be careful on those handbrake turns.

Fandom: THE PROFESSIONALS
Pairing: Bodie/Doyle
Length: 31,279 words
Author on LJ: [livejournal.com profile] asymphototropic
Author Website: asymphototropic on The Automated Hatstand, asymphototropic on The Circuit Archive, asymphototropic on The (Original) Hatstand

Why this must be read: asymphototropic is an utterly fabulous writer. Her words flow from her keyboard in such a way that I want to cry at their melodic beauty. :) I wish I could write half a well as she does. It's simply gorgeous writing. But writing talent needs to translate into a great story, and this writer hits the mark again and again.

Stuck is wonderful. This case story is chalk full of action, intrigue, friendship and love. It's the perfect melding of a case story, canon lads and a beautiful relationship. I happen to adore her Bodie as well. *g*

Cowley took a moment to study the afternoon sky, pursed his lips and declared, "It's well said, 'lost wealth may be replaced by industry, lost knowledge by study, lost health by temperance or medicine, but lost time is gone forever'!"

"Yes sir," Bodie agreed primly, holding the door for his superior, and then hastening around to the front passenger seat. Cowley's testiness lasted only long enough for Doyle to get the car well onto the M6, at which juncture the Old Man took a calming swig of single malt from his hip flask, sorted some documents from his briefcase, and submerged himself in paperwork.

At Doyle's sigh of relief, Bodie chuckled quietly, then settled his head comfortably for a kip. On the inside of his lowered lids, he encountered the unsettling view of a villain covetously eying his partner. Why was the memory of this brief encounter so disturbing? Ray was well able to defend himself, and no matter how dangerous the other fellow was, incarceration nullified the threat, surely. As usual when anything disturbed Bodie's balance, he consciously extirpated it from his thoughts, consigning it to an imaginary rubbish bin. This accomplished, he sank into a light sleep.

A thump jolted him, and he looked around in alarm, as well he might, since he recognized his surroundings as Kinshasa Prison. He was locked in a steaming dank cell, and from the four corners of it came voices, one praying monotonously in French, another groaning and cursing in Lingalan, and opposite him, a couple chatting calmly in Swahili. Bodie shifted, hoping he wasn't sitting on anything too disgusting. Before he could pursue the thought to a practical survey, however, there was a clanking of the lock, the door swung wide, and a guard shoved in another prisoner. Doyle stood there, blinking in order to get his eyes adjusted to the shadows, all the while smiling benignly. Bodie wanted to call out to the attendant, to explain that Ray didn't belong there, but he panicked when he couldn't decide which language to use.
