Fandom: BIG TIME RUSH
Pairing: Kendall/James
Length: ~4,000

Why this must be read: The more of the show you watch, the more clear it becomes that the boys will do anything for one another, and that's probably been going on for a long time. One of the fun things to play with in fic is where the "anything" line falls. And the thing is, for all Kendall is the group's leader and a fairly confident guy, he's also got lots of barely subtextual issues floating around, mostly with loyalty and his family and what all that means to him. This fic plays with that line and with Kendall's issues, while giving an interesting take on the characters -- not to mention it's super hot, too.
One minute, they’re standing together in the dark, chatting about life- High School and how it’s so much different than Junior High; how they’ve got a whole new breed of people to deal with this year. James thinks he’ll kick High School’s ass, to be honest. He’s got looks and charisma and a mom that sells makeup. The female population will flock to him. Like migrant birds to paradisiacal destinations. That’s a new analogy he came up with recently- you know, to illustrate his point about the girl thing. He was in the middle of explaining that to Kendall while he locked up the store after his shift- how “because I’m hotter than the sun” just didn’t have the intellectual ring to it that he was going for now that they’re entering the big leagues, when Kendall looked back at him strangely and whispered, “I don’t want things to change.”
Like that’s at all what James was talking about. He realized he should’ve been more sympathetic towards some of Kendall’s more unfortunate life experiences- how High School and growing up and possibly apart may affect him, what with his abandonment issues and all. But James was just trying to make conversation.
To clarify, Kendall launched himself at James in a manner befitting someone with much less control than Kendall Knight puts off, taking James’ lips in a way that was both surprising and not. They’ve known each other forever- boundaries haven’t been an option as of yet. And now they’re- well. About to fuck up against a stack of grocery carriages.
It’s not the worst thing in the world.
