Why this must be read: This story is from the recent due South Seekrit Santa exchange (check it out!). This one is backstory for Stella, and it's so interesting to see the various influences on her as she grows up--her mom and her dad wanting different things both for Stella and for themselves. It ends with a great scene where Stella first meets Ray and his family.
