This story in a well written alternate universe, explores the sentinel/guide relationship in a new watery world. The characters use great personal resourcefulness to overcome hardship and work well together. I love how real this world feels and how the characters have chances to grow.

Summary from Authors note:
"This is an AU set a considerable time in the future. Rapidly rising sea levels have altered the coastline during that period, drowning or half drowning coastal towns and creating islands where none exist today. Civilization has collapsed. A Government anxious to maintain power by finding a scapegoat looked to minority groups to blame for their problems..."

Rats, I thought AO3 was liberal enough for people to get slash there as slash is my preference. I'll have to check out your stuff elsewhere as I've read everything I could by you on AO3.

It is - it was my choice to post gen versions of my stories to AO3. The slashy versions (mostly only marginal or pre-slash) are at ASR3, with a lot on 852; but recently I've only been writing gen or pre-slash-if-you-squint-really-hard.

Thanks - not to say there is any thing wrong with gen. A good story is a good story. For me, slash makes an okay story interesting. But I like both kinds.
