Why this must be read:

Another reveal!fic where Arthur doesn't react like he usually does in this subgenre. I like how Trojie made him possessive as hell over Merlin and his magic. He's calculating and strategic about the worth magic would have in his future plans and as a weapon. No melodramatic "Why did you lie to me, Merlin" lines here! Also really liked the gray area that agent explored with Merlin's character. Usually a slayer of all things bad and threatening to Arthur and his future, this time Merlin kills a knight of Camelot to save his own life. A knight of Camelot who was only doing his duty and protecting his prince from a sorcerer he perceived as a threat, no less. Where Trojie took both these characters, all within the tapestry of my subgenre crack of choice, reveal!fics, makes this a fic to remember and read again and again.
