Why this must be read:
I thought it would be nice to give you something chewy with BAMF!John over the weekend.
It slots into S1 just after The Blind Banker, but with no spoilers and you don't really need to have seen the episode either. It could take place anywhen really. Like I said, it's BAMF!John, but it's not one of those that forgets that Sherlock is also a huge badass. Rather it's a story about how well suited John and Sherlock are to each other. There's a theme through this story of John and Sherlock both trying to sacrifice themselves to save the other which was entertaining and I think very in character.
It has a plot that's twisty, it has a Big Bad who is not Moriarty (nothing against Moriarty certainly but it's a nice change of pace to have a villain who just wants to get away with a crime, not play an elaborate game with Sherlock), it has some smutty bits that are nice but that don't completely halt the action driven plot. And it has lots of Mycroft as he appears in S2, all knowing but not infallible. This is a story where everybody makes mistakes.
