Eight Days a Week, by Bluebrocade (NC-17)

Turns out I didn't have to give up the keys last month but instead strapped myself in for another ride in the van. I have several fandom loves, but due South is the fandom of my heart. I don't have a list of stories ready to rec this time, but I expect to highlight some recent ones while trying to find a few gems that were missed by the other drivers.

Fandom: DUE SOUTH
Pairing: Benton Fraser/Ray Kowalski
Length: 4166 words
Author on LJ: [livejournal.com profile] bluebrocade
Author Website: Fic on AO3
Why this must be read:  Matchmaker!Dief FTW!

I had to go though the previous entries and double-check the delicious list to make sure this hadn't been recced before, because I couldn't believe that hadn't been posted here. It's a sweet, hot and funny story, with a pining Fraser tricked into making a move on Ray. But what makes this really stand out is bluebrocade's Dief. He's snarky, mocking and manipulative, and the banter between him and Fraser matches the best of what we saw on the show.

Fraser stared at the ceiling and sighed. Such was his burden to bear. "Wolves who live in glass houses," he said, looking pointedly at Dief.

Dief woofed indignantly.

Fraser arose from his cot and began gathering his clothes and toiletries. "I'm well aware of my promise, but you brought up the subject. It's hardly fair of you to mock me for transgressions of which you are also guilty. Or would you deny you were having a rather graphic dream about Ante when I woke you from molesting that stuffed manatee? Honestly, Diefenbaker. Your hypocrisy astounds me. I have no more control over my unconscious thoughts than you."

Dief barked twice, then licked his balls.

You can find Eight Days a Week on AO3, and please don't forget to leave feedback for the author.
