Why this must be read: This is a heartbreaking little AU series I found a few years ago, and it's stuck with me ever since. SpiritBearr manages to keep the characters all very much recognisable, despite having changed the ages of the Holmes brothers, as well as their circumstances, quite dramatically. I have a not-so-secret weakness for kid!fic, and this two-part series indulges that particular weakness quite nicely.
