Why this must be read:

stainofmylove is one of the more prolific writers in the fandom (and we are lucky to have her because every story is flawless). This is one of my favorites of hers. A dark and violent peek at Stefan and Klaus. Ripper!Stefan at his finest and most disturbing. A must-read, especially since the show seems dead-set on getting Stefan back in the wagon as quickly as possible.

Excerpt

Now, where were they? North Florida. Wolf central, perhaps. Nowhere. Hell. Didn’t matter. That’s the thing about whimsy. Klaus never seemed to mind much how far they were from the goal—whatever it truly was.

“Have you ever considered that perhaps you’re my endgame, Stefan?”

They share a bed in West Virginia, the air is hot and clammy and try as he might Stefan can’t sense the tug of his hometown anymore, so close and still so definitively far.

“Seems short-sighted.”
