Subject: THE SENTINEL/HIGHLANDER:THE SERIES (NC-17)

Title: The Look by Bone
Pairing: Jim Ellison/Duncan MacLeod
Author on LJ:
Author Website: at Zen and Nancy's House of Slack in the "Homeless Shelter and Soup Kitchen"
Why this must be read:

Your very very bad Sentinel rec-er has a crossover rec a day late, but hopefully not a dollar short. There have been no Sentinel recs thus far this month because I've been on the road, but with this rec I hope to mend my ways and start doing better.

This is the first in a series of three Sentinel/Highlander stories pairing Jim and Duncan. I pretty much love everything Bone writes, but this one has a special place in my heart (or parts slightly further South) because it's fairly rare to read slash about two men who are equally well muscled, and I always say the more muscles, the merrier.

So, the premise is that Jim walks into a bar in Seacouver and gets rather more than he bargained for, and just what he needs. This can also be read by Blair/Jim and Duncan/Methos OTP purists because the series doesn't attempt to usurp the place of the guys' more common partners. Rather these shorts attest to the power of every person you meet, for however short a time, to transform your life - through good conversation or therapeutic fucking as the case may be.

The Look

And the Sequels: Look Again, and One Last Look

Thank you for reminding me of these. Am I crazy in thinking there was another one in this series by a different author?

That other story

Yup, there's a fourth story in the series. Melina wrote it for the Wounded Heroes zine. It's available online here:

Melina gave me permission to forward the link. Enjoy! (And thanks for the kind words about the other stories in the series. It's nice to know that after all this time, people still enjoy reading them!)

Address for feedback?

Loved the stories. I just tried to send some feedback to JBonetoo@yahoo.com, then jbone2@aol.com, and both came back undelivered. Do you have a new address?

Do you have a new address?

I do. I also have a slightly more updated stories page at Coffeeslash -- here:

And the new feedback addy is thisisbone@aol.com.

Thanks for asking! :)

I adore slash with Two Big Men; as you say, it's not common, and these stories are at the top of my very short list. The Look is the first story that made Jim sound attractive to me.

Pretty sure there are actually 4 in the series. My personal favorite is "One Last Look" (even though it has Jim/Duncan during the time that Jim/Blair are an established "thing"). The 4th one WAS written by someone else, takes place some number of years later and is set in Paris and isn't as slasherific as Bone's stories.

Really enjoyed these, especially the last. Thanks for the rec!
