bluewolf458 arriving a couple of days late this month - I lost my broadband connection on Saturday, and just got it back this morning. So here's the rec I'd originally meant to post on Sunday...

Why this must be read: - This is a sort-of post-TSbyBS story. Blair chose not to take the badge, went to England to get his doctorate... and Jim was killed in a shoot-out. Now, twenty miserable years later, Blair dies... and is sent back, in his older persona, with three days to put all that went wrong right again.

For this older Blair, returning to the days before Jim's death is more than bitter-sweet. His mission is a difficult one - somehow he has to persuade his earlier self to be in the right place at the right time, without revealing anything of what he knows...

Romslinger has handled the theme very smoothly, turning a death story into one of hope...

Welcome back for another round. Don't you just hate when technology doesn't work as it's supposed to?

I really like Romslinger's work but I've avoided this because I don't care for death stories (other than from old, old age!) Perhaps I should give this one a go. Thanks for reminding me about her.

The most infuriating thing was that with my iPad I could pull down my email, LJ, etc, at my pal's house, I could reply if I didn't mind pecking out an answer one-fingered, but I'd no practical way of getting the CV rec *onto* the iPad. I was hoping to be back in business by the 2nd, but with Sunday intervening... one person's faulty line doesn't constitute an emergency to call out technicians on a Sunday.

I don't care for death stories in general either, but there are a few that work for me. Do give this story a try, and let me know what you think!
