Why this must be read: I'd be remiss if I didn't rec at least one post-"Trinity" fic this month. What I especially like about this story is that we join the action mid-way through and it ends before there's a resolution. It's not a snippet, it's intentionally written this way and doesn't come with a guaranteed happy ending. It's a story that shows John and Rodney still at a crossroads with their friendship, both too stubborn to concede a point and still stinging from the events on Doranda. I liked the fact that we don't get a pat happy ending here and that the author makes no apologies for not providing one. As with real life, being hurt by a close friend and having your trust abused by that same person takes time for those wounds to heal. Sometimes it takes a traumatic event to put everything back into focus.
