Why this must be read: When one partner rapes the other, how can there be forgiveness? Even though it wasn't Starsky's fault, the act still happened and the pain it cause will create ripples throughout the partnership.

"Starsk... buddy..." Hutch said continuing to struggle. "You don't wanna do
this."

"Wanna bet?"

They have to find out who did this to Starsky, to them, but they've also got to rebuild the bond that was severed on a violent night when one partner took control of the other's body.

I read that one a couple of weeks ago. I have seen better-written fics, but I thought the author did a marvelous job of negotiating the emotional minefield this sort of situation would produce. She was right on the money in terms of what it would do to them both individually and as a team. Hutch's situation was shown extremely well, I thought - on the one hand he is ready to fall apart but on the other, he *can't* because he's too busy holding Starsky together.

That's exactly it. She showed the unsettling line between "my partner did this to me, but I have to keep him sane." The plot idea was a good one to show what impact this might have on them.

My favorite scene from this story is Starsky, sitting in the jail cell, waiting for his "punishment" from his brother cops, but Hutch comes in all gentle and caring instead.

Not the greatest story I've ever read, but for sheer "I-must-help-my partner-heal-and-thereby-heal-myself!Hutch", this is one of the good ones.
