Why this must be read: One of the characters who's most wide-open to fanfiction possibilities is Connor. He got his memory written over at the end of last season, and he was given a seemingly perfect family. He had no memory of Angel or any of his own deeply screwed-up history. This story explores what this could mean for a future Connor-that's-*not.*

This story describes five possible futures for Connor, from the bittersweet to the horrifying to the heart-wrenching. The last bit wrecks me *every* time.

Thank you for recing this. It's perhaps the best Conner story out there. Just tragic, and beautiful, and uah. Makes you long for the lost oppertunities of the character.

Heh. This is definitely the story I force encourage friends to read if they hated the Connor arc. Usually they at least qualify the hate with "...but it produced good fanfiction." *g*
