Unreal City by Julian Lee (Unrated, probably PG/PG-13)

Fandom: SPORTS NIGHT
Pairing: Dana/Natalie
Author on LJ: [livejournal.com profile] julianlee
Author Website: The Thwarted Invasion
Why this must be read:

It's amazing that, for all the slash written in the SN fandom, so little of it is femslash. At least when we have Natalie saying to Dana, "You really like my body?"

I've been trying to focus on about the women of SportsNight this month, and this one is a delight. Someone else has already recced Julian Lee's "You Can't Make Texas Bar Punch in New York," and I'll second that rec. But "Unreal City" is another Dana/Natalie piece that is every bit as Dana, and every bit as Natalie. It's Christmas, Natalie's buying lederhosen for Casey, Dana and Jeremy have a pact never to talk about their relationships with Natalie, and Dana is convinced that nothing, not the city, not the SN team, not Natalie, is real.

Dana nods. That explains why everything's been so wavy, then. It's almost a disappointment. She liked the idea that she was falling in and out of dimensions. It made her feel almost magical.

Dana is very finely drawn here, in all of her quirky glory. And for all that, the rest of the SN team comes through loud and clear, as well.
