Why this must be read: Werewolves and Vampires! Politics and Turf wars! Bonding! Mindreading! Auras! Awesomeness!

This is the ultimate AU and I love it so much! It's a fantastic, rich world that couldn't be further away from Twilight. The were-teams, who live in tight-knit packs led by an alpha, are the main protagonists and how they love and hunt and mate (I have little hearts in my eyes, right now) and raise their young (through adoption not mpreg,  in case someone wants to know) is amazingly well thought out and, as weird as it sounds, completely plausible... . What we see of the vampires (oh, Jordan Staal) is intriguing to say the least.

All in all it's a trope story that never ever feels tropey.

This is an excerpt from the first story (timelinewise) "This City is on Fire Tonight":

As much fun as chasing a squirrel would be, he would much rather tackle Brandon’s smug, stupid face into the ground.

He’s nosing along, following tracks rather than smells, when he hears a soft whine from somewhere close by. Brian goes absolutely still, ears perking up and twitching around, trying to catch another hint of sound. He’s entirely too giant to do discrete, but when he hears the forlorn cry of something small and young, whimpering to itself, he ducks down low to follow it.

His heart is racing as he zeroes in, listening to a familiar howl, sensing the intense sadness, even though he’s certain he doesn’t know who, or what, it’s coming from.

When he sees the ‘wolf, for a moment he’s not certain that it’s really a werewolf. He’s not sure what actual wolf populations are like in the state of New York but it seems unlikely that there would be one so little wandering around alone, crying like this one is.

His heart clenches when the little ‘wolf looks at him, and he knows instantly that this is someone’s Beta. This is a child werewolf. Brian can sense its fear, the horrible sadness that clouds its aura like a terminal illness and he knows without hearing a single thought that this ‘wolf has been orphaned. He takes a step forward, trying for unimposing.

It runs.

There is some continuity to the different stories, but you can still jump in at pretty much every point in the timeline.

I'm honored beyond words. Thank you so much. I appreciate this and the way you describe the Nightverse :) I'm glad it is thought on as fondly by others as it is by me. I really never imagined it would grow to the point that it has but I'm happy it has.
