STARGATE SG-1/SANCTUARY [teen]
Title: Not From Around Here, But Here Just The Same by
gingasaur
Pairing: Cameron Mitchell and Helen Magnus
Author on LJ:
gingasaur
Author Website: AO3
Why this must be read: As Cameron Mitchell waits in the thirties to right the timeline, he meets a woman who is the spitting image of his dead friend. This is a fill-in for Stargate: Continuum, but all you really need to know is that the timeline went wrong, that Cam has gone back in time to fix it, and that Helen Magnus is near-immortal and hunts things you thought only existed in cryptozoology books. (And is fabulous. You need to know that)
A story which not so much lampshades the fact that Helen Magnus and Sam Carter look alike as floodlights it and sings karaoke about it, this is the tale of the nine-year bittersweet friendship between Helen and Cam in the 1930s. It's simply and elegantly written, well-characterised, and if I'd have liked a little more thirties atmosphere, that's just because I am greedy.
