Why this must be read:
As has often been noted, designer fashion plays a major theme in the Inception fandom. These two short fics are recced together because they use the fashion theme to dramatically different effect. It is amazing to me how creative writers can take a single idea and offer so many different interpretations. The color of socks becomes a public declaration of love with a sense of giddy delight in the first. Bittersweet longing is created in the second fic as his slovenly appearance is how Eames shows his heartache to Arthur. Both are lovely.
