Why this must be read:
Author's Summary: Nick and Monroe kicking ass and taking names in their old age.
And now the lighter of the two looks at Nick's and Monroe's later years. I adore Eligh's grasp of Nick's and Monroe's banter. Back and forth, it flows so effortlessly from her keyboard/pen. Even when they're two old, crotchety men hunting rogue Wesen three times younger than them, they're still snipping back and forth. They give each other hell over hunting techniques, driving skills, sarcastic pet names, and "damn kids these days" (fav line in the whole fic! XD).
And yet, we still feel the intense connection between these two men and the deep emotion they feel for each other. Even in glasses and moving with a cane, Monroe still steps between his Grimm and danger. He might be taking out a vengeful Jagerbar by thwacking him over the head with said cane (and oh that image makes me chuckle!), but we can just imagine the blood red eyes and fangs bared while protecting his man.
