“You’re staring,” Harvey finally comments, catching Mike’s eyes as they rise from Harvey’s mouth. Mike shakes his head a little bit and smiles sheepishly.

“Sorry,” he says, tapping the side of his glass. “Scotch seems to make me all...”

He waves a hand, deflecting, like it’s not worth being said, and all Harvey can think of is a kiss that could have been a breath, and the thing is, Harvey has had a lot of scotch too. Enough to ignore all the reasons why what he is about to do is a very, very bad idea.

“I noticed,” he says, voice even and calm.

He clearly doesn’t need to be more specific. It’s subtle but he can see Mike’s discomfort; the tiny shift in his seat, the way his fingers curl tighter around the glass. He remembers, Harvey realizes. They’ve both been playing this game.
