Why this must be read: - Jim and Blair are somewhere... strange
The story is told from Blair's PoV as he struggles to follow Jim, who seems to be taking everything in this strange world in his stride; and then the reader discovers what's really happening as the PoV switches to Simon. The author does a great job of showing the two conflicting attitudes in this story-inside-a-story that leans very strongly on the relationship between a sentinel and his guide.
