A sort of nepotism here: I betaed this; I'm biased. Plus, since I'm reccing a van owner's fic, I'm a suck-up, too!

Why this must be read: Taking place in approximately Season 3 territory timewise, Clark and Lex set out to foil Lionel's plans to put Clark in a cage and subsequently end up in Gotham with Bruce Wayne and Alfred. There's meteor and Batcave and all kinds of details you'd expect with Bruce and Gotham, but Bruce himself absolutely delights me. I know he's a gloomy fucker in canon, and I know he has his reasons, but until this story, I hadn't read any fanfic where he wasn't basically icky (and don't get me wrong--there's some excellent icky Bruce out there). This Bruce is a happy bastard who snipes at Lex, annoys him further by befriending Clark, and then makes him ragingly jealous just by not saying anything. And, of course, there's sex!

shaggirl is supposedly working on a sequel. Read this one, enjoy, and demand more!

I'm not sure whether to kiss you or take you firmly to task for this (I suspect you'd like either just as well). Since you've said such nice things about Bruce, I think I'll just look the other way.

Well, it's not like I didn't squee over it when it was in pieces, and then in beta :)

I was trying not to be too much of an ass-kisser (even as fond as I have become of rimming stories), but I love this story, and I love this Bruce and I want him to torment Lex further. He seems to just have to show up and then Lex does all the work. Heh.

I say you can't get around sucking up to the van owner when she writes stories as amazing as this one. If you hadn't recced it, I would have. I'm an absolute sucker for the Bruce/Clark relationship here. Bruce is impressive as hell, and the way Clark holds his own with him really shows why this boy will grow up to be a superhero. It's a delightful story.

I loved the initial pissing contest aspect of the Bruce/Clark relationship and the believable segue into a more mentorish interaction. And I really love Lex getting so worked up about Bruce's attentions to Clark...when Clark knows all along what Bruce wants (and then Bruce admits it!).

Also, though I didn't mention it, I can follow the action in this story, which is a big bonus! I really can't follow/don't care to follow complicated fight sequences for the most part. It's similar, I think, to how some people say they can't follow m/m sex, or orgy scenes or the like. Too many parts to keep track of, all too much alike. I guess it's pretty obvious where my priorities lie.

Ooh, yes! This is a great story that I really love; it's one of the small group of SV fics I've read repeatedly and loved every time.
