Why this must be read:

Set just after The Duel, this story has a beautiful Vecchio narration, plus Vecchio taking care of Fraser, who's still bleeding from Victoria, plus Vecchio with all his doubts and the way he can't help loving Fraser. Not an easy romance, but it all feels utterly real. My notation for this story was "comfort = heartbreak."

Pares writes both Vecchio and Kowalski with insightful precision, and her Stella stories are excellent.
