There's lots of Fraser-musing in this fic where he examines his relationship with Ray Kowalski with his trademark blend of perceptive naievete. It precedes the emotionally gripping part of the story, which is Ray Kowalski processing a loss he didn't expect. I love that Shay wrote about this, and that she wrote it so that we feel his loss as well.
