A Gentlemanly Conversation (R) by Leareth

Why this must be read:

A Gentlemanly Conversation is the second part in a series (entitled One Thirteen) that takes place after the King of Swords canon arc, but due to the skill of the writer it works as a standalone piece. Tatsumi, infuriated by the trauma Muraki inflicted upon Tsuzuki in Kyoto, goes searching for the doctor to exact a little revenge. But Tatsumi fails to take into account that Muraki, though weakened, is still a master of psychological manipulation, and the result is an enjoyable fic that takes a walk on the darker side of Tatsumi's mind. Muraki and Tatsumi are two of the most dangerous men in Yami no Matsuei, and Leareth does them justice here.

The setting in this story is vivid, the grace and formality and strength of the characters speaks true to their manga selves. If this rings your bells, you'll want to read the whole series.

I think I have to label Tatsumi/Muraki as a new fav pairing. Such great potential here, though not exactly in a positive way!

Thanks for the rec!

I've only seen the DVDs, not the manga, but when Tatsumi shows up in Kyoto you can see Muraki think twice about his obsession with Tsuzuki. There is that little silver gleam...
