The Caduceus Circle by Tiv'ester (PG)

Hello, [livejournal.com profile] duonoaikouka speaking and welcome to another hair-raising ride in the Stargate crack van! I'm equal opportunity when it comes to Stargate so expect both SG-1 and Atlantis ficcage. Now that I have the keys from [livejournal.com profile] georgiesmith after her sharing of lovely fics, let's get the ball rolling!

Fandom: STARGATE SG-1
Pairing: none; gen
Length: ~69,000 words
Author on LJ: [livejournal.com profile] captain_tiv
Author Website: Lion's Lair
Why this must be read:

Author's Summary: Inspired by the legend of the Lost Battalion in WWI, Daniel leads a group of scientists on a 'peaceful' exploratory mission that goes tragically wrong

This is one of my favorite Stargate SG-1 fics hands down. With engaging characters (both original and SG1 characters), a very tense plot and struggle for survival, in-depth examination of loss, and an emotional pull that sucks you in fast, this fic engaged me multiple times and for hours on end.

Tiv'ester gets the perspective of the SNAFU situation developing from multiple viewpoints without losing the intimacy she has for these characters. She's able to balance the epic and the up-close-and-personal with deft skill. I literally had tears in my eyes as we got to see the rapidly deteriorating situation with Daniel's group struggling for survival and the other groups from Earth are oblivious till so close to the end. This is definitely a fic that will keep you on the edge of your seat and your brain engaged to the last word. A true classic of Stargate mission-fic, adventure writing with incredible character and friendship moments.
